Undergraduate Program

Program of Study

The undergraduate program in Mathematics was approved by the Academic Agreement #15 on November 22, 1968 and by the ICFES Agreement #117 on September 4, 1974.

The program lasts 10 semesters where the student must complete at least 200 credit hours of the subjects listed in the plan of study.

A student fulfilling the program requirements is granted the title of "Mathematician".

Objective

The fundamental mission of the Mathematics Department is to form, promote, promulgate, and develop pure and interdisciplinary mathematical knowledge, not only for the region but also for the country, by means of high quality academic programs that strengthen mathematical discipline at all levels and in different degrees.

Occupational profile

A Mathematician from the Universidad de Antioquia can be engaged as a:

  • Teacher in Mathematics at the university level among the various science, technology, or humanistic degrees.
  • Member of research groups in pure and applied mathematics.
  • Advisor for teaching- or research-related institutions at developing programs pertaining to mathematics.
  • Instructor of statistics and computation techniques in teaching and applied research.
